A highlight of the 2011 New York Fashion Week was the Red Dress Collection, a star-studded event that inspires women to lower their risk of heart disease.

The Red Dress is the symbol of The Heart Truth, a national awareness campaign launched in 2002 and sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute that educates women about heart disease. This year, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off in New York City with The Red Dress Collection, a fashion show filled with stunning red dresses donated by top designers and worn by an assortment of celebrities. In many cases, a woman’s risk of heart disease can be lowered by eating a well-balanced diet, exercising regularly, quitting smoking, and staying within a healthy weight range.
